Madison365 Youth Basketball Team Shows Grit in Friday Night Main Event Finals

The Madison365 12U girls’ basketball team encountered both the agony of defeat and the thrill of victory at the Friday Night Main Event Finals in Stoughton last Friday. Despite a challenging first game, the team delivered an impressive performance in their second match, securing a second-place finish in their group.

In their initial game, the Madison365 team struggled to find their footing, trailing behind with just a single point in the first half. However, they exhibited resilience and determination, managing to tie the game and force overtime. Ultimately, they fell short, with the Middleton team securing a 16-11 victory.

The team didn’t let this setback dampen their spirits. In the subsequent match, Madison365 delivered a standout performance, with Alyse Winzer leading the charge with 12 points, closely followed by Kennedi Castillo and newcomer Maliyah Thompson contributing nine points each. The team ended the game with an emphatic 43-11 win over Wisconsin Academy.

Head coach Henry Sanders commended their opponents, acknowledging the formidable reputation of the Middleton team. “We lost to a Middleton team that won the Badger Development League, which, I believe, is the best development league in the state, and they took second in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament,” remarked Sanders. “Coach Drye always has them prepared, and they know how to win. The game was a great learning experience for us. Hopefully, we learn from the game and grow as a team.”

Looking ahead, the Madison365 team is gearing up for the JAG Spring Break Shootout in Wisconsin Dells on March 16. Fans can stay updated on the team’s progress, news, and statistics by visiting Madison365.org/365Basketball.
