The Minnesota All Sports Alliance has formally announced the names of the top ten candidates for the 40th Annual Mr. Hockey Award. The distinguished players vying for this esteemed award are Hagen Burrows (Minnetonka), Javon Moore (Minnetonka), Jackson Nevers (Edina), Carson Pilgrim (Warroad), Nolan Roed (White Bear Lake), John Stout (Minnetonka), Gavin Uhlenkamp (Chanhassen), Noah Urness (Roseau), Rhys Wallin (Wayzata) and Louis Wehmann (Providence).
Additionally, the Minnesota All Sports Alliance has revealed the finalists for The Frank Brimsek Award, which recognises the state’s top senior goaltender. The three finalists are Hunter Bauer (Minnetonka), Kam Hendrickson (Chanhassen) and AJ Reyelts (Proctor). The recipient of the seventh annual Mr. Hockey Ambassador Award is Minnesota Wild Chief Executive Officer, Matt Majka. This award is presented to an influential leader dedicated to the growth and development of hockey in Minnesota.
The 40th annual Mr. Hockey Awards Banquet is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 10 at 12 p.m. at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, hosted by Katie Storm. In addition, the Minnesota State High School League Boys’ Hockey Tournament will be held at Xcel Energy Center and Aldrich Arena from March 6 to 9. Notably, the Mr. Hockey Awards Banquet is sponsored by the Minnesota Wild and is hosted, coordinated, and presented by the Minnesota All Sports Alliance.
The Mr. Hockey Award is a highly esteemed accolade presented to the outstanding senior high school boys’ hockey player in Minnesota. The recipient is chosen by a panel composed of National Hockey League Scouts, Junior Scouts/Coaches, and selected media members from around the state. At the banquet, four other awards will be presented: The Frank Brimsek Award, The John Mariucci Award for the Class A and Class AA high school coaches of the year, The Cliff Thompson Award for the “Old Timer Coach” of the year, and the Mr. Hockey Ambassador Award.
Previous winners of the Mr. Hockey Award include remarkable names such as Jayson Shaugabay (2023), Max Strand (2022), and Blake Biondi (2020), among others. Meanwhile, past recipients of the Frank Brimsek Award include Hampton Slukynsky (2023), Ben Dardis (2022), and Charlie Glockner (2019), among others.
