Senior Taylor Garabedian led the Hurricanes with 13 points, enabling them to establish a lead over Mahar following a strong start by the visiting team. Despite Mahar’s valiant effort, they were held to just eight points between the second and third quarters after trailing by only two points in the first quarter.
Junior Nevaeh Scribner scored 11 points for Mahar, with Irati Martinez and Taylor Paluk contributing nine and seven points respectively. Despite Mahar’s strongest offensive quarter in the fourth, they were unable to bridge the gap, resulting in a 63-32 victory for Hoosac.
Meanwhile, Cohasset emerged victorious in their match against Frontier, securing a 56-32 win in the Round of 16. The Skippers took an early lead with a 12-2 run in the first three minutes and maintained their advantage throughout the game. Despite Frontier’s efforts, they were unable to close the gap and ended their outstanding season with a 17-5 record.
Skyler Steele and Claire Kirkendall played pivotal roles for Frontier, each contributing 11 points. The game also marked the final appearance for Molly Gates and Hailey Hutkoski, the only seniors on the Redhawks’ roster. On the other hand, Sarah Chenette led the Skippers with a game-high 21 points.
Top-seeded Hoosac Valley will now face No. 9 Saint John Paul II in the state quarterfinals, while Frontier’s impressive season concludes as they bid farewell to their senior players, ending their campaign with a commendable 17-5 record.
