“First Week of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball: An Inside Look”

The third season of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball has made a triumphant return to Dallas, with games being held at the Fair Park Coliseum for the second consecutive year. Fans have the privilege of enjoying high-intensity double-headers three nights a week. According to the league’s Director, Megan Perry, the primary objective is to enhance the level of talent and refine the overall product.

Following the conclusion of Week 1, it is evident that the level of talent on display has reached unprecedented heights. The opening weekend witnessed intense competition, and first-time captain Allisha Gray emerged as a standout leader, guiding her team to an undefeated record and claiming the top position on the leaderboard.

An intriguing feature of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball is the weekly team redraft. All active players are assigned to one of the four teams each week, with the top four players on the leaderboard assuming the role of team captains and selecting their new teams. Seasoned players such as Odyssey Sims and Kelsey Mitchell returned as captains for Week 1, alongside newcomers Lexie Hull and Allisha Gray.

The opening night was a showcase of sheer athleticism, with Team Gray demonstrating their dominance in an 88-67 victory against Team Hull, while Team Sims emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle against Team Mitchell with a final score of 94-91. The level of competition was intense, with players exerting maximum effort on the court.

Week 1 also celebrated Dallas Wings-themed day, attracting a strong turnout from fans, including three of the Wings’ own players in the league – Odyssey Sims, Maddy Siegrist, and Kalani Brown – showcasing their skills.

As the week progressed, the competition remained intense, with both Team Gray and Team Sims maintaining their unblemished records. The highly anticipated face-off between the two teams culminated in a thrilling 107-103 victory for Team Gray, propelled by the exceptional leadership of first-time captain Allisha Gray.

Looking ahead to Week 2, players Natasha Cloud and Tiffany Mitchell are set to assume the role of captains, promising another week of action-packed basketball.
