The NDSU women’s basketball team, having secured the second seed in the Summit League Tournament for the second consecutive season, aims to build upon their outstanding regular season performance. The Bison’s 19 wins mark their highest in the Division I era since 2004-05, and they clinched a 13-3 record in Summit League play – their best since joining the conference in 2007-08.

This season, the Bison have been formidable on their home court, boasting a stellar 12-1 record at Scheels Center and securing 23 wins in their last 25 home games. Their impressive three-point shooting has also been a highlight, with the team ranking second in the Summit League and seventh nationally in three-point percentage at 38.3%.

Two standout performers to watch are Elle Evans and Heaven Hamling. Evans ranks third in the nation in free throw percentage (93.7%) and fourth in three-point percentage (45.6%), while Hamling, the leading scorer in NDSU’s Division I era, has tallied an impressive 261 three-pointers over four seasons.

The Bison’s journey in the Summit League Tournament has been successful, with the team winning 19 of their regular season games, the most in their Division I era, and securing a third-ranked spot in scoring in Summit League play, averaging 81.3 points per game.

One of the season’s highlights was Elle Evans’ career-high performance against North Dakota, where she posted 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Evans, who had a historic freshman season and was named the Summit League Freshman of the Year, has continued to excel in her sophomore season, ranking in the top 10 in several NDSU single-season categories.

In addition to their on-court achievements, the Bison team has gained recognition in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll and has received votes for the fourth consecutive week.

The exceptional performance of the NDSU women’s basketball team this season, along with rising stars like Elle Evans and Heaven Hamling, has undoubtedly positioned them as a team to watch in the Summit League Tournament. With their impressive home record, strong three-point shooting, and a star-studded lineup, the Bison are prepared to make their mark in the upcoming tournament.
