Buildcorp Steps Up as 2024 Super Rugby Women’s Season Kicks Off

The highly anticipated 2024 Buildcorp Super Rugby Women’s season was formally inaugurated in Brisbane, bringing together players from the six competing teams at Ballymore Stadium for the grand launch. Commencing on Friday 15 March, the players expressed their hopes and expectations for the upcoming season before participating in an energetic photoshoot on the Ballymore field.

The launch also signified Buildcorp’s renewed commitment to Australian Rugby, confirming their ongoing partnership as the naming rights sponsor for the Super Rugby Women’s competition, a role they have held since the inaugural Super W season in 2018.

Representing the teams at the launch were Cecilia Smith (QLD Reds), Piper Duck (NSW Waratahs), Siokapesi Palu (ACT Brumbies), Trilleen Pomare (Western Force), Melanie Kawa (Melbourne Rebels), and Asinate Serevi (Fijian Drua).

The 2024 Buildcorp Super Rugby Women’s competition will provide a platform for some of Australia’s finest athletes to showcase their skills, with closer integration with Super Rugby Pacific resulting in 13 double-header fixtures.

Fijian Drua, the back-to-back champions, are aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive title in 2024 under the guidance of their new coach and former Fiji captain, Mosese Rauluni. Meanwhile, the QLD Reds, led by new head coach Grant Anderson, are seeking redemption after narrowly missing out on the title in the previous season.

The NSW Waratahs, bolstered by the return of three Wallaroos, are determined to reassert their superiority following a disappointing exit in the semi-finals of 2023. The ACT Brumbies, with a stable squad, are on the rise, with recent Test debutants Faitala Moleka and Tabua Tuinakauvadra leading the charge.

The Western Force have received a boost from several international signings as they seek to elevate their expanding professional program, while the Melbourne Rebels have secured the services of former Wallaroos captain Grace Hamilton and are poised to cause some upsets in 2024.

Every match of the 2024 Buildcorp Super Rugby Women’s season will be broadcast live, on-demand, and ad-free on Stan Sport.
