The 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Men’s Basketball Championship is scheduled to take place from March 13-16 at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev. The tournament will showcase eight teams, with UC Irvine securing the top seed after clinching The Big West regular-season title.
The Big West Basketball Championships will adopt an eight-team format, which was sanctioned by The Big West Board of Directors in June 2023. This format will propel the top two seeds into the semifinals and the third and fourth seeds into the second round, creating a thrilling four-day event.
UC Irvine has secured the No. 1 seed for the second year in a row, with an impressive 17-3 league record and 24-8 overall. Following closely is UC San Diego, finishing second in The Big West with a 15-5 conference record and 21-11 overall. However, the Tritons are ineligible for postseason play in The Big West due to their reclassification from Division II to Division I.
UC Davis has earned the No. 2 seed, concluding league play at 14-6 and 19-12 overall, after securing four wins in their last five contests.
The Men’s Basketball Championship will commence with the first round on Wednesday evening, featuring UC Riverside against Cal State Bakersfield, and UC Santa Barbara facing off against CSUN. The winning teams will progress to the second round to compete against Hawai’i and Long Beach State.
