In the boys’ division, three District 11 champions have impressed with their advancement to the next round. Parkland, the 6A champion, exhibited dominance in their 68-33 victory over Plymouth-Whitemarsh, with four key players contributing a noteworthy 65 points. Their upcoming challenge awaits against Chambersburg, the District 3 runner-up, at Central Dauphin East. Allentown Central Catholic, the 4A champion, also secured a mercy-rule win with a commanding 68-33 margin over High School of the Future. Similarly, Executive Education, the 3A champion, cruised to a 76-42 victory over String Theory.
Regrettably, Liberty and Emmaus could not prolong their seasons in the 6A division, both succumbing to defeats in closely contested matches. However, Whitehall’s boys’ team achieved a thrilling victory over Phoenixville, with senior Luke Keppel reaching a remarkable milestone of 1,000 career points.
Bethlehem Christian-which is in its second year of the boys’ program- displayed resilience by avenging their 2023 tournament loss to City School, securing an impressive 64-58 victory and setting the stage for an exciting matchup against Linville of District 3.
In the girls’ division, five Lehigh Valley-area teams have advanced to the round-of-16 in their respective classes after triumphing in their first-round games. Parkland, Bethlehem Catholic, Allentown Central Catholic, and Northern Lehigh will face formidable opponents in the next round, each aiming to progress further in the tournament.
As these teams continue their journey towards the prestigious PIAA state finals in Hershey, the intensity of competition and the high stakes are apparent.
