Coastal Georgia’s Women’s Tennis Dominates Tigers

The women’s tennis team at the College of Coastal Georgia achieved a remarkable victory on Tuesday, achieving a 7-0 shutout against the Georgetown Tigers.

Head coach Zack Rogers lauded the team’s performance, explaining, “Achieving a 7-0 victory is always our aim, but it is not easily attained. Our performance in doubles was exceptional, securing 6-0 wins at both the first and second lines. This high level of play continued into singles, with our players claiming victory across all six lines.” He further expressed his pride in the team, singling out Sofia and Lisa for their outstanding wins.

The (RV) Mariners (2-3) demonstrated their skill from the outset, with five of the six singles matches ending in straight sets. The team also dominated in doubles, limiting the Tigers to just two points across three matches.

Laetitia Grand and Chloe Do Lago secured a 6-0 victory at the No. 1 doubles line, while Danielle Silvan and Azul Malatini replicated the score at the No. 2 doubles line. Ana Gonzalez and Lisa McKenzie concluded the doubles matches with a strong 6-2 victory, earning the Mariners the doubles point.

In singles play, Gonzalez claimed victory at No. 1 singles with a score of 6-2, 6-3, while McKenzie mirrored the result at the No. 2 singles line. Grand triumphed at the third line with a score of 6-2, 6-4, and Do Lago bounced back from a 7-5 set one to win 6-0 in set two. Malatini showcased her strength at No. 5 singles, winning both sets 6-1, and Gonzalez concluded the singles matches with a 6-3, 7-6 (8) victory.

Following this remarkable win, the team will have a well-deserved break before preparing for their first conference matchup against Ave Maria on March 22nd.
