Navy Women’s Tennis Team Dominates Doubleheader in Orlando

The Naval Academy women’s tennis team enjoyed a successful outing in Orlando, Florida, capping off their spring break trip with consecutive victories. In the afternoon, the team secured a 4-0 win against Marist, followed by a 7-0 evening triumph over Marquette at the USTA National Campus.

The team’s winning streak now extends to three matches as they prepare to enter Patriot League play next week. In the first match against Marist, Navy secured the doubles point with strong performances from junior Emily Tannenbaum and freshman Olivia Fermo, as well as junior Kate Lee and rookie Makaila Cheng. The singles matches were swiftly concluded with victories led by senior captain Stella Ribaudo, freshmen Manci Pal and Carly Mew, and senior Samantha Johns.

In their second match of the day against Marquette, the team had to battle for the first point but managed to secure the doubles point, followed by a dominant display in the singles matches. Notable performances came from Tannenbuam, Cheng, Anna Jordaan, Sia Chaudry, and Julia Lee, who all contributed to the comprehensive victory.

With these victories, Navy’s all-time series record improved to 2-0 against Marist and 1-0 against Marquette. The team’s key players also achieved personal milestones, with Tannenbuam tying for fifth in program history with 61 career doubles wins, while Fermo and Chaudry have each won their last three singles matches.

Looking ahead, Navy will open Patriot League play on March 21, hosting Loyola in a 3 p.m. match, which marks the beginning of three league contests in a four-day period.
