Belarusian Ice Hockey Olympian and Coach, Konstantin Koltsov, Passes Away at 42

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Konstantin Koltsov, former Belarusian ice hockey player and coach, at the age of 42. Koltsov, also known as the partner of current World No.2 tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, was a highly respected figure in the realm of ice hockey.

A participant in the Belarus national team at the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics, Koltsov made significant strides in the sport throughout his career. His influence and skill were not only evident on the global stage, but also within esteemed clubs such as the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League and Russian club Salavat Yulaev, with whom he secured the Russian Super League title in 2008. Following his playing days, Koltsov transitioned into coaching, making a lasting impact with Salavat Yulaev, where he was held in high regard by players, colleagues, and supporters.

The tragic news of his passing was relayed by his former club, Salavat Yulaev, who memorialized Koltsov as a resolute and jovial individual who left an enduring imprint on their legacy. During this trying period, our thoughts are also with Aryna Sabalenka, who has been in a relationship with Koltsov since 2021. The tennis star recently concluded her campaign at Indian Wells in the round of 16 and is preparing to compete at the Miami Open this week.
