The Ace in the Net: Gabe Pomerleau’s Road to Victory

Lewiston High School has further cause for celebration as one of its own, Gabe Pomerleau, has been honoured as the Sun Journal All-Region Boys Hockey Player of the Year. As the goaltender for the Blue Devils, Pomerleau led the team to victory in the 2023-24 season with an impressive 15-3 record.

Pomerleau’s outstanding performance in the latter part of the season has garnered widespread acclaim. He achieved an impressive five shutouts in seven games, helping the Blue Devils secure their first state championship win in four years. His exceptional goals against average (1.41 per game) and save percentage (.940) have firmly established him as a standout player among Class A and B starting goaltenders.

In an interview, Pomerleau attributed his success to the unwavering support and camaraderie of his teammates. He eloquently expressed his gratitude for the cohesive team effort that ultimately led to their triumph, underscoring the critical role played by each member, including fellow players and coaches.
