Massachusetts Hockey’s Lucas Vanroboys Signs Contract with San Jose Barracuda

Lucas Vanroboys, a graduate student forward from the University of Massachusetts hockey team, has recently signed an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO) with the San Jose Barracuda. This significant development was officially announced by the organization on Monday, representing a noteworthy milestone in Vanroboys’ hockey career.

In his final season of collegiate eligibility, Vanroboys demonstrated his abilities in 29 games for the Minutemen, contributing eight points through three goals and five assists. He also showcased his defensive skills with a solid +3 rating and recording nine blocks. Of particular note was his achievement in leading UMass in faceoff percentage at an impressive 60.1%, winning 170 out of 183 draws, earning him the second spot in hockey east among players with 200+ attempts.

During this period, he recorded 11 goals and 33 assists for a total of 44 points, achieving a career-best of 20 points in the 2022-23 season. He also garnered recognition in Atlantic Hockey, finishing fourth in faceoff winning percentage with .560 and ninth in faceoff wins in the 2021-22 season.
