Changes to Upcoming Games in Erie’s First Round Series: What You Need to Know

The Ontario Hockey League, in conjunction with the Kitchener Rangers and Erie Otters, has announced amendments to the schedule for the first-round series. These modifications are in response to concerns about travel conditions during the Total Solar Eclipse, which is anticipated to attract a large crowd to the City of Erie.

The proposed revisions are aimed at addressing issues related to travel, traffic, and lodging, particularly in light of an estimated 250,000 individuals expected to be in Erie during the celestial event. In consideration of a preemptive state of emergency declared by the Niagara Falls region due to the expected surge of visitors, the OHL, Rangers, and Otters have reached an agreement to extend the series if games 6 and 7 are needed.

Should the occasion arise, Game 6 will now take place at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9 at the Erie Insurance Arena, with individual game tickets being made available immediately, should the game be necessary. Subsequently, Kitchener will host Game 7 at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 10. These are the sole changes to the previously announced dates for the First Round series. Game 4 will still be held in Erie on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 P.M., followed by Game 5 in Kitchener. Currently, Kitchener leads the series 2-1.

The Erie Otters have expressed their gratitude for the league’s and Kitchener Rangers’ flexibility in ensuring the most favourable circumstances for the team and their supporters. The organization also looks forward to providing its fanbase and community with the opportunity to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday. Moreover, they are prepared to welcome the best fans in the OHL back for the final home game of the first round, if necessary, on Tuesday.
