University of Chicago Women’s Tennis Triumphs in Top Ten Showdown with WashU

The women’s tennis team of the University of Chicago, currently ranked 5th, recently travelled to WashU to compete in a significant victory. This triumph marked the first of their final three matches before the highly-anticipated UAA championships, and they did so impressively by defeating the Bears with a final score of 6-3.

The Maroons started strong in the doubles play, securing two points early on. The pair of Lin and the younger Mikos emerged victorious in the top spot with a solid 8-5 win against their opponents. Versely and Khou followed with an impressive 8-0 shutout, showcasing the team’s collective prowess on the court.

The singles matches were tightly contested, with both teams striving for victory. However, the University of Chicago emerged triumphant in several crucial showdowns. This included a standout performance from Lin, who dominated with consecutive 6-1, 6-0 victories in the top singles competition. Additionally, the elder Mikos secured a hard-fought three-set win, contributing to the team’s overall success.

They will face off against Case Western Reserve on Friday, April 19th at the Stagg Tennis Courts, with the action starting at 3:00 pm.
