The Anaheim Ducks have officially announced the signing of Cutter Gauthier, a highly promising prospect, to a three-year entry-level contract that is scheduled to commence this season. The 20-year-old forward joined the Ducks after being acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round pick in 2025, a transaction that was completed on January 8th. Gauthier’s remarkable achievements include leading all NCAA skaters in goals over the past two seasons, accumulating an impressive total of 102 points in 73 career games at Boston College, with 54 of those goals.
During his freshman year in 2022-23, Gauthier excelled, leading the Eagles with 16 goals and 21 assists, resulting in 37 points over 32 games. His outstanding performance led to his recognition as a Hockey East Third Team All-Star and unanimous selection to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Notably, he also emerged as the top scorer for the team in goals, assists, points, and power-play goals, with a total of 7.
Gauthier’s impressive track record extends to his contributions to Team USA in various international tournaments. His leadership skills were crucial in helping the team secure a gold medal at the 2024 World Junior Championship, where he not only co-led the tournament in points but also served as an alternate captain. He was recognized as the Best Forward and was selected for the All-Star Team for the 2024 tournament. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in securing the U.S. team’s victory in the gold medal game by scoring the game-winning goal during the third period of the Semifinal match.
Furthermore, Gauthier represented Team USA at the 2023 World Championship, where he ranked second in goals and recorded the most points by an under-20 player, showcasing his exceptional talent on an international stage.
As a first-round pick (fifth overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2022 NHL Draft, Gauthier’s skill and potential have led to the Anaheim Ducks securing a valuable asset for the team’s future. With his signing, the Ducks are eager to harness Gauthier’s abilities and integrate them into their roster, anticipating a positive impact on the team’s performance in the upcoming seasons.
