Exeter High School Girls Tennis Team Defeats Undefeated Dover

The Exeter High School girls tennis team achieved a remarkable victory on Monday against the previously unbeaten Dover High School, marking their first loss since 2019. The Blue Hawks secured a 5-4 win in the Division I match, demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork in both singles and doubles matches.

Geoffrey Simard, the coach of Exeter High School, praised the outstanding performance of both teams during the match. Notably, Katie Rocha, Katie Turner, and Cate Phelps secured victories in the singles matches for Exeter, while Lydia Goldrick and Cate Phelps, as well as Katie Rocha and Ava Iacobucci, contributed to the team’s success in the doubles matches.

This significant win has propelled Exeter High School’s girls tennis team to an impressive 4-0 record for the season. Despite strong efforts from the Dover High School girls tennis team in the singles matches, Exeter’s consistent and strong play ultimately secured the victory.

In other girls tennis matches, Winnacunnet achieved an 8-1 victory against Timberlane, while Bishop Guertin emerged triumphant against Spaulding with a score of 6-3. St. Thomas Aquinas also commenced their season with a win, defeating Pelham with a score of 5-4. These outcomes underscore the competitiveness and talent exhibited by various high school girls tennis teams.

On the boys tennis front, Exeter narrowly secured a 5-4 win against Dover, with Owen Russell, Pavel Pazourek, and Nick Rosa emerging victorious in their respective singles matches for Exeter. St. Thomas Aquinas also achieved a commanding 9-0 victory against Prospect Mountain in a series of closely contested matches.

In baseball, Portsmouth secured a comfortable 8-0 win against Alvirne, with Joe Zingariello delivering an outstanding performance on the mound. Dover also achieved an impressive 11-0 win over Nashua North, with Charlie Kubiet leading the charge with an exceptional pitching performance.

The softball landscape witnessed Winnacunnet triumphing over Goffstown with a score of 7-2, with Maddy Eaton and Fenway Schouller making notable contributions to the team’s success. Meanwhile, the Portsmouth softball team clinched a 9-1 victory against Alvirne, showcasing their dominance early in the season.

In girls lacrosse, Portsmouth secured a resounding 14-1 victory against Nashua North, with Lily Patterson and Annie Parker leading the offensive charge. The Exeter girls lacrosse team also secured a significant 15-10 victory against Dover, featuring a standout performance from Phoebe Christenson.

For boys lacrosse, St. Thomas Aquinas emerged victorious against Winnacunnet with a score of 13-4, thanks to a stellar offensive display, propelling them to an impressive 2-0 record for the season.

The track and field events also showcased impressive performances, with athletes from Somersworth notably excelling in various events, further solidifying their position as formidable contenders in the competitive high school athletics arena.
