USC Women’s Basketball Signs Top Talent for 2024 Season

The University of Southern California (USC) women’s basketball team is preparing for the 2024-25 season with the addition of highly-regarded incoming freshman guard Brooklyn Shamblin. Shamblin, a standout player from nearby Oaks Christian High School, recently signed a national letter of intent to join the USC Women of Troy under the leadership of head coach Lindsay Gottlieb.

Shamblin, who stands at 5-9, is known for her versatility as a playmaking combo guard. Coach Gottlieb praised her skills, stating that Shamblin’s ability to both shoot and create for her teammates makes her a valuable asset to the team. Gottlieb also commended Shamblin’s work ethic and determination, noting that she possesses a deep understanding of the university’s rich basketball tradition and will proudly represent the Trojan community.

During her time at Oaks Christian, Shamblin’s impressive performance on the court earned her recognition as the 2022 CIF Southern Section Player of the Year, as well as a First Team All-State honoree and league MVP in 2022. Her experience in elite youth basketball programs such as Nike EYBL further honed her skills, despite facing setbacks due to injury. In addition to her achievements on the court, Shamblin was also nominated for the 2024 McDonald’s All-American and received invitations to prestigious events such as the MAMBA Foundation and the USA Basketball U16 trials.

Shamblin is part of a star-studded recruiting class for USC, which has been ranked No. 1 on ESPN’s list of 2024 classes. Alongside Californian teammate Kennedy Smith and other recruits from out-of-state, Shamblin and her fellow freshmen are expected to bring fresh talent and energy to the program. This influx of new talent comes at an exciting time for USC women’s basketball, following the team’s remarkable performance in the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament, culminating in their first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since 1994 and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming season, USC fans are eager to see Shamblin and the rest of the incoming class make their mark on the court and contribute to the team’s continued success. With their sights set on further elevating the program’s national standing, the future looks bright for the USC Women of Troy.
