Former USC commit, Brody Kozlowski, has recently narrowed down his selection of potential schools to five, with BYU being among them, alongside Nevada, Cal, Stanford, and SMU. Kozlowski had originally pledged his commitment to USC, but a change in coaching personnel prompted him to request a release from his commitment. This highly sought-after four-star recruit, ranked 91st in the ESPN100, has attracted considerable interest from numerous collegiate basketball programmes, resulting in over 20 offers.
Throughout his high school career, Kozlowski distinguished himself as the Deseret News 6A Utah player of the year, leading his team, Corner Canyon, to an impressive tournament run. His standout performance included a remarkable 39-point game against American Fork in the semifinals, where he contributed to the majority of his team’s total score.
It is worth noting that Kozlowski has familial connections to BYU, as his mother, Kristen Kowzlowski, is a former BYU women’s basketball player. Additionally, he has been involved in covering BYU basketball, participating in pregame and postgame shows for the team on BYUtv.
Standing at 6’7, Kozlowski possesses a smooth jump shot, making him an ideal fit for BYU’s reliance on the three-point shot in their style of play. His potential addition as a high school recruit aligns with the vision of new BYU coach Kevin Young, who aims to implement a strategy focused on stretching the floor, distributing the ball effectively, and prioritising three-point shots.
Recruitment remains a top priority for Young, as the team currently has only seven scholarship players secured for the upcoming season. Given the significance of Kozlowski as a key target, securing his commitment would be a substantial achievement for the BYU basketball program under its new leadership.
