The Boston University Women’s Tennis Team Emerges Victorious Against Lafayette in Patriot League Quarterfinals

The Boston University women’s tennis team achieved victory by shutting out Lafayette 4-0 in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Navy’s Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium. This win propels Boston University to the semifinals, where they will compete against Lehigh, who secured a 4-1 win over Loyola Maryland.

In the doubles round, freshmen Uma Bakaityte and Blanka DeMicheli continued their impressive streak at the top of the lineup with a resounding 6-0 victory. Meanwhile, senior Kaitlin Tan and sophomore Emily Zhao secured the doubles point with a commendable 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.

Moving on to singles, Bakaityte secured the first singles point by winning 6-3, 6-2 at line two. Tan followed suit by overcoming a first set loss to ultimately win 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Ellie Gyuro then clinched the overall victory with a stellar 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot, propelling BU to the next round of the tournament.

The Boston University Women’s Tennis Team is scheduled to compete against Lehigh for a coveted spot in the PL Final on Saturday at 10 a.m. Having emerged victorious with a 4-0 win in their regular season meeting, the Terriers remain confident as they prepare to take on the Mountain Hawks. This upcoming match will mark the first-ever face-off between the two teams in the PL tournament.
