East Central Community College Appoints Tia’wana Pringle as New Head Women’s Basketball Coach

East Central Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Tia’wana Pringle as the new head women’s basketball coach. Pringle will be succeeding Betsy Harris, who has admirably led the program through a period of rebuilding over the past two seasons.

The Warriors demonstrated a commendable performance in the 2023-24 season, culminating in a 19-11 overall record, marking the best performance in the past seven years.

Pringle brings with her seven seasons of experience as an assistant coach at Meridian. As a native of Lauderdale County and a former recruiter for MCC, she possesses a deep understanding of the Decatur area and has previously served as a head coach in high school basketball. Her time at MCC has been instrumental in her learning and growth as a coach.

Commenting on her new role, Pringle expressed her eagerness to engage with the community and the team. “I still kept in contact with a lot of people that are in this world and in this area,” she said. “My goal is to get [the team] to know me as a person, and then we can get into the team building, growing their game,” she added.

It is evident that Pringle’s appointment has been well-received by the East Central women’s basketball program. Her local ties and extensive coaching experience position her as a strong leader who can lead the team to new heights in the upcoming seasons.
