Good morning, viewers. Robin Roberts, host of Good Morning America, disclosed on Tuesday that she had suffered a wrist fracture while playing tennis. Linsey Davis took over for Roberts on the ABC morning show on Monday.
In a backstage video posted on social media, Roberts shared, “I took a tumble on the tennis court and fractured my wrist.” She added, “All my years being a competitive athlete, [and it’s] my first fracture. Hopefully, my last one as well.”
Accompanying her social media post, Roberts wrote, “Good Morning! Playing a little hurt this morning but Glam Fam and I would still like to share with you our #tuesdaythoughts #cmon.”
During Tuesday’s show, George Stephanopoulos ribbed Roberts about her injury, to which she playfully responded with a little quip about her tennis skills.
When asked about her condition after the tennis accident, Roberts humorously replied, “I don’t want you to get upset seeing that tennis on the screen. I know you had a little spill this weekend,” mimicking her tennis moves and jokingly adding, “Oh, no no. You should’ve seen the other guy! I mean, I tried to uppercut.”
Roberts mentioned during a segment on the growing popularity of padel sport that she fell while still holding her racket, advising viewers to “drop the racket or this could happen.”
It appears that Roberts is maintaining a positive attitude despite the mishap. Let’s hope she has a speedy recovery and is back on the court soon.
