A Successful Day of Mini Rugby Festival in Greenlaw

The mini rugby festival organized by Stewartry Sharks in Greenlaw last weekend was a resounding success, attracting over 330 young players, 40 coaches, and numerous supporters. Teams from Newton Stewart, Dumfries, Wigtownshire, Moffat, and Carrick RFC participated in the round-robin competition across different age groups, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

The event demonstrated the significant improvement in the young players’ gameplay since the beginning of the year, reflecting their hard work and dedication. The morning was filled with energy and enthusiasm as the teams competed in thrilling matches, captivating the spectators with their talent on the field.

Stewartry Sharks achieved success in the P1/2 and P4 categories, while the P3 tournament ended with joint honours for Stewartry and Dumfries. Despite a narrow defeat in the P5 contest, the Stewartry team’s performance was commendable. Notably, both Wigtownshire’s P4 and P5 teams received the spirit of rugby award for their exceptional teamwork and respect, leaving a positive impression on the referees.
