The Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has announced its intentions to introduce newly redesigned jerseys for the upcoming 2024-25 season as part of an expanded partnership with Bauer Hockey, the league’s first official jersey partner.
According to Hailey Salvian of THE ATHLETIC, Bauer Hockey, already an equipment partner for the PWHL, will now supply official game and replica jerseys for the league’s six teams. While specific details regarding the team names and logos remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that the new Bauer jerseys will showcase an entirely new design.
Jayna Hefford, Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations at PWHL, disclosed that the development of team names and logos is currently underway and will be officially unveiled when ready. She also emphasized the significance of the extended partnership with Bauer, which has been in progress for several months.
Mary-Kay Messier, Vice President of Global Marketing at Bauer Hockey, stated that a portion of the sales from replica jerseys will be reinvested back into the game of hockey. This initiative aims to create and support a program specifically designed to introduce more girls to the sport. Messier added that the launch of this program is expected to occur in the next season and will involve all six teams within the league (THE ATHLETIC, 5/9).
This new partnership between PWHL and Bauer Hockey marks a significant advancement in the promotion and development of women’s hockey. With Bauer’s support and involvement, the league is set to offer an enhanced experience for players, teams, and fans. The upcoming introduction of redesigned jerseys adds an extra element of excitement as the league prepares for the 2024-25 season.
The collaboration also underscores the increasing momentum behind initiatives aimed at boosting participation and diversity within the sport of hockey. Through their joint efforts, PWHL and Bauer Hockey are paving the way for a more inclusive and accessible environment for aspiring female players across the province.
The palpable excitement within the hockey community surrounding the reveal of the new jerseys and the upcoming season reflects the dedication to innovation and progress displayed by the league and its partners, setting the stage for a compelling and successful future for women’s hockey in the region.
