Rana Mashhood commended the team’s performance, recognizing the positive impact it had on the youth’s interest in hockey. He announced a prize of Rs1 million for each player on behalf of the prime minister and assured the team of continued government support in future events.
The final match against Japan was a closely contested affair, with Pakistan initially falling behind before mounting a comeback to take the lead. However, Japan managed to equalize, leading to a penalty shootout, where they ultimately emerged triumphant.
Despite the disappointment of the final loss, coach Roelant Oltmans expressed faith in the team’s abilities and emphasized the importance of winning future tournaments. He acknowledged the missed opportunities in the final match and stressed the need to capitalize on such chances in the future.
