Louth’s Seapoint Golf Club has been officially designated as the host venue for the 2025 Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the conclusion of the 2024 event, generating anticipation for the upcoming championship.
The disclosure was made by Flogas Ireland Managing Director John Rooney, who commended Seapoint Golf Club for its selection as the host venue. The club has a track record of hosting high-profile events, as it is also preparing to host the OFX Legends Tour event for the second consecutive year in June.
Andrew Phelan, the Managing Director of Seapoint Golf Club, conveyed his enthusiasm for the selection, remarking, “We are delighted that Seapoint Golf Links has been chosen to host the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open in 2025. This represents the latest milestone in re-establishing Seapoint as a premier championship links on the tournament circuit. We successfully hosted the Irish Legends 2023 and eagerly anticipate hosting it again this June.”
The recent 2024 event took place at County Sligo Golf Club, with Matt McClean emerging as the victor, securing a two-shot triumph at the west coast links. Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly welcomed the decision to bring the championship to Seapoint for the next year, citing the club’s impressive layout and history of hosting significant events.
Flogas Ireland’s Managing Director John Rooney also conveyed his excitement about the forthcoming event, stating, “Next year we are going to go to Seapoint in County Louth which is only a few miles from our head office in Drogheda where we were founded over 40 years ago. Seapoint is another lovely links course, hopefully Matt McClean will come back to defend his title.”
