Cawte Brothers Dominate WUMA Championships in Greece

The Cawte brothers, hailing from Weston-super-Mare, made a remarkable impact at the World United Martial Arts Federation (WUMA) championships held at the Argos Sports Stadium in Greece. The trio showcased their exceptional skills and brought home a collection of medals.

First up was Josh Cawte, who left spectators in awe as he demolished his Qatari opponent in the Continuous sparring final. His outstanding performance earned him the well-deserved gold medal.

Liam Cawte also displayed his prowess in the ring, securing a silver medal in the Continuous sparring final and a bronze medal in the Points category. In a thrilling match against his brother Josh, Liam emerged victorious by a single point.

Ryan Cawte, the youngest of the three, demonstrated immense courage by competing against opponents in a higher weight category. Despite his age, Ryan held his own against nine-year-olds in both Continuous and Points categories. His exceptional performance earned him a gold medal by default, as a recognition of his determination and skill.

The Somerset Kickboxing Academy instructor, Paul Holder, accompanied the brothers to Greece and couldn’t contain his pride in their achievements. He expressed his admiration for their hard work and dedication, stating, “I am incredibly proud of all their accomplishments. On the day of the competition, they applied everything they had learned and showcased their skills. Ryan performed exceptionally well, knocking down his opponent three times and securing a well-deserved third place. Liam’s second-place finish against an opponent two years older is truly commendable. Josh’s victory as the world champion is a testament to his unwavering focus and determination. I am eagerly looking forward to coaching them for their next competition.”
