In an exciting announcement released today, it has been revealed that four exceptional student-athletes from the Macalester College men’s tennis team have been honoured with selection to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators. Lewis Jolly, who hails from Grinnell, Iowa, has exhibited remarkable skill on the tennis court, with a 7-6 singles match record this season, primarily at No. 5 doubles. This marks Jolly’s second selection for the Academic All-MIAC team, a testament to his dedication to both his sport and studies as a political science major at Macalester.
Owen Lindstrom, who has contributed significantly in doubles play, is pursuing a double-major in economics and mathematics and has compiled a 7-12 record this season. His previous accolade of making the Academic All-MIAC team last year exemplifies his commitment to academic excellence alongside his athletic pursuits.
Liam Lynch, who played the majority of his singles matches at No. 3 singles, also stood out with 18 doubles matches at No. 1 doubles. With a 10-7 record in singles and an impressive 8-4 at No. 4 singles, Lucas Wood has demonstrated exceptional skill in tennis. Additionally, his 6-12 record in doubles matches solidified his place in the Academic All-MIAC team, all while pursuing a major in media & cultural studies.
The criteria for consideration for Academic All-District and All-American accolades include being at a sophomore, junior, or senior level, maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50, and participating in 70 percent of their team’s dual matches. The hard work and dedication of these men have truly paid off, and they serve as an inspiration to their peers.
Under the guidance of Coach Ted Lauer, the Macalester men’s tennis team has had a commendable season with a 9-11 overall record and a strong 5-4 performance in the MIAC.
