SA Rugby is delighted to announce that Ingrid Mangcu has been selected as one of the 25 women to participate in World Rugby’s upcoming leadership programme. This initiative is a vital component of the women’s strategic plan and plays a pivotal role in advancing women leaders in rugby on a global scale.
In 2009, Mangcu was appointed as SA Rugby’s HR Manager, and due to her exceptional performance, she was later promoted to head up the department in her current role as General Manager. Her dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, as Mr. Mark Alexander, President of SA Rugby, congratulated her on this outstanding achievement and expressed his confidence in her ability to represent SA Rugby effectively.
Mr. Alexander has stated that Ingrid Mangcu has been an invaluable asset to the administration at SARU House and possesses a comprehensive understanding of the demands of the modern game. The opportunity to participate in the leadership programme will further enrich her experience, benefiting not only SA Rugby as a whole but also contributing to the advancement of the women’s game – which has been identified as a fundamental area for expansion by SA Rugby.
The primary goal of this programme is to establish a vast global network of female leaders and role models within the sport, leading up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Since 2018, a total of 98 women have completed the programme, showcasing its success in empowering female leadership in the world of rugby.
The selected scholars will have the privilege of accessing top-tier learning programs provided by the Capgemini University. Additionally, they will be paired with a mentor assigned by World Rugby and a Capgemini coach, enhancing their development and learning. Moreover, participants are eligible to apply for an additional discretionary grant of up to £5,000 to further support their growth in their respective roles.
Ingrid Mangcu’s selection for this prestigious programme is a clear testament to her outstanding abilities and dedication in the field of rugby administration. It is not only a remarkable personal achievement for her, but also a significant milestone for SA Rugby and the development of women’s rugby internationally.
