Aquinas Basketball Star Returns to Mizzou as Coach

Former Aquinas basketball standout Tre Gomillion has embarked on a new role at Mizzou, this time as a coach for the Tigers. Gomillion was instrumental in leading the Aquinas Fighting Irish basketball team to their first-ever Georgia State Championship in 2018. Subsequently, he enjoyed a successful college career with the Mizzou Tigers.

Having served as the team captain for the Tigers during the 2022-2023 season, Gomillion is now poised to make a return to the basketball court in a coaching capacity under the guidance of Dennis Gates. In a video shared on social media, Gates expressed his admiration for Gomillion’s contributions to the team and even anticipated his future role, stating that “Tre Gomillion one day will be this staff.”

Mizzou made the official announcement of Gomillion’s coaching appointment through a video on social media, in which Gomillion declared, “I’m back to give you what you always wanted… I’ll be on the sideline as a coach.” He also expressed his excitement for the new opportunity, citing his wealth of experience in the game. “I can’t wait to be on the sidelines in a packed Mizzou crowd as we look to win conference championships, as well as postseason success,” said Gomillion.

This marks a significant achievement for Gomillion and a notable development for the Tigers. His return to Mizzou as a coach completes a full circle as he continues to remain actively engaged in the sport that he is passionate about. It will be intriguing to observe how his expertise and love for the game will influence the team’s future triumphs.

The entire Mizzou community and the basketball fraternity at large extend their congratulations to Tre Gomillion on this new venture and eagerly anticipate his contributions to the Tigers.
