The Mansfield Timberview girls basketball team, having just concluded a successful season, has officially appointed LaQueisha Dickerson as its new head coach following the retirement of the team’s former coach, Kit Kyle Martin, who leaves behind an impressive career record.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the position, Dickerson acknowledged the strong legacy established by Coach Martin at the esteemed Mansfield Independent School District. She stated, “The program has been consistently successful, and the district is renowned as one of the best in the state of Texas. It is an honour to continue the legacy that Coach Martin has established at the school. Timberview is one of the premier coaching positions in the state.”
Martin had an illustrious tenure as Timberview’s coach, amassing an impressive record during her leadership. Under her guidance, the team achieved several state runner-up finishes, including a nationally ranked team that reached the Class 5A title game, ultimately securing 40 wins and 2 losses.
Dickerson, who recently served as the head coach at Fort Bend Austin, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. With a notable coaching record at her previous schools, she is well-versed in leading successful basketball programs. Furthermore, Dickerson’s background includes substantial experience as both a college assistant coach and a former collegiate basketball player.
The appointment of the new coach comes at a critical juncture for the team, as they confront the task of rebuilding their roster following the graduation or transfer of several key players. Nonetheless, Dickerson remains optimistic and views the situation as comparable to her previous coaching experiences, particularly when she took over at Cypress Woods.
As Mansfield Timberview welcomes LaQueisha Dickerson, there is a sense of anticipation surrounding the team’s future under her guidance. With her proven track record and passion for the sport, she is well-equipped to steer the team through the upcoming season and beyond.
