Bath Rugby Foundation Joins the Fight for Good Employment

Hey there, folks! Big news from the world of rugby and charity work. The Bath Rugby Foundation, which does amazing things to support vulnerable youngsters, has just signed up to the West of England Good Employment Charter. How cool is that?

This awesome announcement was made at the first-ever Good Employment Summit, which celebrated the one-year anniversary of the charter. And guess what? The Bath Rugby Foundation is now part of a group of 140 companies in the region that employ over 13,000 hardworking individuals.

Now, let me tell you what this charter is all about. It’s all about fighting against poverty pay during this crazy cost-of-living crisis. And how do they do it? Well, these organizations promise to pay their staff a Real Living Wage. That’s right, they believe that everyone deserves to be paid properly for the work they do.

But that’s not all! They also give their employees a say in how their workplaces are run. I mean, who knows better about what goes on in the office than the people who actually work there, right?

And let’s not forget about those pesky zero-hours contracts. The charter supporters are cracking down on those bad boys. They want to make sure that workers have job security and aren’t left hanging without any hours or stability.

But it doesn’t stop there. These organizations are also committed to developing their staff. They want to give them opportunities to grow and improve in their positions. Because let’s face it, we all want to keep learning and moving forward in our careers.

The Metro Mayor, Dan Norris, had some pretty inspiring words to say about this whole thing. He believes that everyone, no matter what job they do, deserves to be paid properly and have opportunities to progress. And you know what? I couldn’t agree more!

So, let’s give a big round of applause to the Bath Rugby Foundation and all the other companies that have joined the West of England Good Employment Charter. They’re making a difference in the lives of their employees and showing that good jobs lead to happier and more productive workers.

And hey, if you’re wondering why this is such a big deal, let me break it down for you. Right now, more than 15% of the workforce in the region earn less than a Real Living Wage. That’s not cool, my friends. And there are around 11,000 workers stuck in those dreaded zero-hours contracts. We need to change that.

So, let’s keep fighting for good employment, where everyone is valued and respected. Together, we can make a difference!
