Tyrrell Hatton emerged as the first-place individual champion at the inaugural LIV Golf Nashville event, surpassing seasoned contenders Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. Hatton claimed victory with a six-stroke lead at The Grove, finishing at 19-under 194 after a remarkable 6-under 65 performance in the final round.
Hatton’s triumph marked his return to the winner’s circle after his last victory in January 2021 at Abu Dhabi. This win holds immense significance for Hatton, who had struggled to secure a win for three and a half years. He expressed relief at being able to prove himself and overcome the challenges of a prolonged winless streak.
In addition to Hatton’s individual victory, Legion XIII also secured the team trophy, largely due to a strong performance by Captain Jon Rahm, who shot a 68. Rahm, competing for the first time since his withdrawal from the U.S. Open due to a foot infection and LIV Golf Houston during the second round, demonstrated commendable effort in the tournament.
Englishman Sam Horsfield made a late surge in the final round, carding five birdies in his last nine holes to finish at 13 under. The day also showcased notable performances from DeChambeau, Rahm, Joaquin Niemann, and Lee Westwood, all of whom finished at 12 under.
The tournament faced challenges, including a sudden downpour leading to a 22-minute suspension of play. However, the inclement weather did not deter the players, and the final five holes were completed under the bright Tennessee sun.
Looking ahead, LIV Golf’s next event is scheduled for July 12-14 at Real Club Valderrama in Andalucia, Spain.
