Manchester United has initiated a move to acquire the services of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte by submitting a bid, prompting an immediate response from the French club.
The Red Devils are keen on enhancing their midfield and have identified the Uruguayan midfielder as a primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window. According to reports from L’Equipe, Manchester United has made an undisclosed offer for Ugarte, which has been turned down by PSG. Nevertheless, there remains potential for a deal as PSG is reportedly open to negotiations and would entertain improved offers.
Ugarte, who was acquired by PSG last summer from Sporting Lisbon in a £52m deal, has established himself as a key figure for the French side, featuring in 37 matches across various competitions. Despite expressing his preference to remain in Paris at the conclusion of the season, Ugarte has not ruled out the possibility of a move elsewhere, leaving the door open for potential suitors.
Notably, Ugarte’s ties to Manchester United are not novel. Chelsea had also expressed interest in signing him last summer and had even activated his release clause before ultimately withdrawing from the deal, allowing PSG to secure his services.

In addition to their pursuit of Ugarte, Manchester United are also deliberating their bid for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. The Red Devils had made an initial offer of £35m for the defender, which was promptly rebuffed by Everton, who are standing firm on a higher fee of around £70m.
