The official announcement of the Indian men’s hockey team for the Paris 2024 Olympics has been made, showcasing 16 talented players who are poised to demonstrate their exceptional skills at the upcoming international event. Leading this team of five Olympic debutants is Harmanpreet Singh, a distinguished drag-flicker and defender, with Hardik Singh serving as the vice-captain.
This will mark Harmanpreet Singh’s third appearance at the Olympics, following his significant contribution to India’s bronze medal win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Joining him are seasoned players like goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and midfielder Manpreet Singh, both of whom will be making their fourth Olympic appearance.
The lineup boasts a formidable defence comprising Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Sumit, and Sanjay, alongside a skilled midfield featuring Raj Kumar Pal, Shamsher Singh, Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, and Vivek Sagar Prasad.
The forward line includes Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Mandeep Singh, and Gurjant Singh. Krishan Bahadur Pathak, Nilakanta Sharma, and Jugraj Singh will serve as alternate athletes, ready to step in if needed.

The Indian men’s team will commence their campaign on July 27 against New Zealand, followed by matches against Argentina, Ireland, Belgium, and Australia, respectively. The team has an illustrious Olympic history, boasting 12 impressive Olympic medals, including 8 Gold, 1 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals.
