Head Coach Pablo Laso Bids Farewell to FC Bayern Basketball

A Significant Change in FC Bayern Basketball’s Coaching Staff

The coaching staff at FC Bayern Basketball has undergone a major shake-up. Head Coach Pablo Laso has made the difficult decision to depart from the German champions due to personal reasons, effectively ending his tenure after just one season in Munich. The club has accepted the request of the esteemed two-time Euroleague champion to terminate his contract, which was originally set to expire in June 2025. Laso, aged 56, conveyed his decision to the organization over the last weekend.

In light of this unexpected development, CEO Marko Pesic has expressed the club’s profound respect for Laso as a coach and as an individual, acknowledging his valuable contributions during the successful season. Pesic remarked, “Pablo’s personal decision took us by surprise, but we hold him in high regard as a coach and individual, and we can only express our immense gratitude for his hard work and dedication over the past season. We wish Pablo nothing but the best for his future, and he will always remain a part of our organization, not only because of the double we achieved under his leadership.”

Laso assumed the role at BMW Park a year ago, marking his first head coaching position overseas following a lengthy and illustrious tenure with Real Madrid. During his time, Bayern secured the BBL Cup in February, followed swiftly by their sixth national championship just two weeks ago, achieving the coveted double. Under his guidance, the team dominated the regular season in the BBL, securing the top seed, before finishing their Euroleague campaign in April with a commendable 13-21 record.

FC Bayern Basketball has announced that updates on the ensuing steps will be provided in the near future.
