Former Iowa men’s basketball standout, Keegan Murray, has recently been selected to join the prestigious 2024 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team. This means that he will have the opportunity to practice with the USA Men’s National Team as they gear up for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Joining Murray on the 15-member Select Team are a group of talented individuals including Jalen Duren, Cooper Flagg, Langston Galloway, and other notable names from the world of basketball. This group will have the chance to practice alongside the 12-member Olympic team from July 6-8 in Las Vegas.
The former Iowa player has certainly made a name for himself in the world of basketball. Hailing from Cedar Rapids, he gained attention during his time with the Hawkeyes under the guidance of coach Fran McCaffery. Murray’s impressive sophomore season, where he averaged 23.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 39.8% from beyond the arc, propelled him to be selected 4th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
Since then, Murray has flourished in the NBA, making an impact in his rookie season and continuing to excel in the following campaign with career-high statistics. His stellar performance has caught the attention of many, earning him a spot on the Select Team and recognition as a rising star in the league.
This isn’t the first time that Murray has been involved with USA Basketball, as he was also named to the 2023 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team.
