Exciting News: Hockey India North Zone Championship Kicks Off This July

The Hockey India Junior Men & Women North Zone Championship 2024 is scheduled to take place from July 1st to 8th in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. This highly anticipated tournament will showcase a total of eight teams competing for the championship title in both the men’s and women’s categories.

The championship aims to provide a platform for junior players in the North Zone, uniting the top teams from the region. Participating teams include Hockey Haryana, Hockey Punjab, Delhi Hockey, Hockey Himachal, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, Hockey Uttarakhand, Hockey Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh Hockey. The competition presents a prime opportunity for young players across the North Zone to display their talents and gain recognition on the national stage.

In the men’s category, Pool A will consist of Hockey Chandigarh, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, reigning Champions Hockey Punjab, and Hockey Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Pool B will include Delhi Hockey, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Himachal, and the home team, Uttar Pradesh Hockey. In the women’s category, defending Champions Hockey Haryana, Delhi Hockey, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, and Hockey Uttarakhand will make up Pool A, while Pool B will feature Hockey Chandigarh, Hockey Himachal, Hockey Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh Hockey.

The competition format will involve a round-robin within each pool during the group stages, with the top two teams from each pool qualifying for the Semi-Finals. The winners of the semi-finals will then compete in the championship match.

Expressing enthusiasm for the tournament, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey stated, “The 2nd Hockey India Junior Men & Women North Zone Championship marks a significant milestone for hockey in the North Zone.” He added, “We eagerly anticipate the display of dedication, hard work, and talent at this championship.”

The first day of matches will see Hockey Haryana facing off against Hockey Uttarakhand and Delhi Hockey taking on Hockey Jammu & Kashmir in the women’s category. In the men’s category, Hockey Haryana will go head-to-head with Hockey Himachal, and Uttar Pradesh Hockey will face Delhi Hockey.
