Colorado Avalanche Signs Jonathan Drouin for 2024-25 Season

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club has formally announced the signing of Jonathan Drouin to a one-year contract for the 2024-25 season. At 29 years of age, Drouin’s outstanding performance during the 2023-24 season saw him achieve a career-high 56 points (19g/37a) in 79 games with the Avalanche, securing him the fourth position in the team’s scoring.

Throughout the season, Drouin achieved a career-high in assists and time on ice per game (18:11), whilst also scoring the second-highest goal total of his career. Commencing the season with eight points (3g/5a) in his initial 26 contests, he concluded with 48 points in his final 53 games, including his 300th career NHL point.

Despite missing the first eight games of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs due to injury, Drouin made an impactful return, contributing with assists in each of the Avs’ last three playoff games and recorded a career-high time on ice in Game 6 of the Second Round with 29:31.

Formerly associated with the Montreal Canadiens, Drouin amassed 186 points (48g/138a) in 321 regular-season games over six seasons with the team. His tenure in Montreal included a 53-point season (2018-19) and two separate 30-assist campaigns (2017-19).

Initially drafted by the Tampa Bay in 2013, Drouin also competed in 164 regular-season games with the club, accumulating a total of 337 points (96g/241a) over 564 regular-season contests from 2014-24. His playoff performance includes a career 6g/18a scoring line in 36 Stanley Cup Playoff contests.

Prior to his professional career, Drouin played for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2011-14. During the 2012-13 campaign, he amassed 105 points (41g/64a) in 49 games and played a pivotal role in Halifax’s championship title, capturing the Memorial Cup and being crowned the CHL Player of the Year.

Drouin also represented Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2013 and 2014, and played for Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
