Liverpool Tennis Centre Wins Prestigious LTA Tennis for All Award

Liverpool Tennis Centre has been awarded the LTA’s Tennis For All accolade for their exceptional commitment to promoting inclusivity in sports. The annual LTA Tennis Awards, presented by Lexus, were held at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, where Laura and David Hardman were honoured with the award by British wheelchair tennis star Louise Hunt Skelley.

For the past nine years, the LTA Awards have been acknowledging the contributions of volunteers, coaches, officials, and players in the tennis community, serving as an inspiration for others to engage in the sport. Liverpool Tennis Centre has been at the forefront of advocating for inclusivity and accessibility within the sport, particularly in the socially deprived area of Wavertree.

David and Laura expressed their delight upon receiving the award, highlighting the impact of tennis on the local community. “It’s very rewarding for us as a venue, just to see the different marginalized groups that walk through the door and use tennis as the vehicle to not only socialize, but be active and enjoy themselves,” said David. “It’s a real sociable atmosphere.”

The commitment to providing social activity and progression for players, regardless of their socio-economic background, has been a driving force for Liverpool Tennis Centre. Laura underscored the opportunities they provide for players who want to improve and compete, regardless of their circumstances. Their dedication to making tennis accessible to everyone has not gone unnoticed, as they emerged as the worthy winners among stiff competition.

LTA President Sandi Procter commended the winners and runners-up, emphasising the importance of grassroots efforts in opening up tennis to new players and fans. The LTA Tennis Awards serve as a celebration of the individuals and venues that contribute significantly to the growth and development of the sport.

The recognition of Liverpool Tennis Centre is a testament to their unwavering commitment to promote inclusivity and accessibility within the sport of tennis. Their efforts have not only inspired the local community but have also demonstrated the power of sports in bringing people together from all walks of life.

The annual LTA Tennis Awards serve as an inspiration to the entire tennis community, shining a light on the extraordinary individuals and venues that make significant contributions to the sport. We celebrate the remarkable achievements of Liverpool Tennis Centre in championing inclusivity and making a positive impact on the lives of the people they serve.

As we continue to celebrate the successes of those who have dedicated their time and efforts to tennis, it is clear that the spirit of inclusivity and accessibility will continue to be at the heart of the sport. Congratulations to Liverpool Tennis Centre for their well-deserved recognition and for being role models in promoting the values of inclusivity and accessibility within the tennis community.
