Wheelchair Tennis Veteran Khanthasit Aims for 5th Asian Para Games

Hey there! So, guess what? Sakhon Khanthasit, a total legend in wheelchair tennis, just wrapped up her fourth Asian Para Games. Can you believe it? And get this, even at 52 years old, she’s already setting her sights on a fifth appearance and maybe even more! She’s like, ‘As long as I can still play, I’m gonna keep rocking it on the court!’ Born in 1971, Khanthasit is one of the three wheelchair tennis players who’ve competed in every single Asian Para Games since it started back in 2010. Talk about dedication, right? Now, here’s the thing, Khanthasit’s got a bit of a challenge with her left leg due to poliomyelitis, but that hasn’t stopped her one bit. Nope! She’s all about that sports life. And you know what? She didn’t just settle for being a spectator. Oh no, she decided to dive right into wheelchair tennis because she loves a good challenge. And let me tell you, she’s been killing it ever since! She’s been to five Paralympic Games, from 2000 all the way to 2021. Her best result was snagging the second place in women’s doubles at the Athens Games. But wait, there’s more! Khanthasit has had some major success at the Asian Para Games too. She totally dominated in 2010 and 2014, winning gold in both women’s singles and doubles. And in 2018, she grabbed a bronze in doubles at Jakarta. The younger generation looks up to her like she’s a total legend. And you know what’s even more impressive? She’s still going strong with her training. She hits the court six days a week, putting in four hours in the morning and another four hours in the afternoon. That’s some serious dedication right there. Now, even though she scored a bronze in doubles and made it to the quarterfinals in singles at Hangzhou, she’s not completely satisfied. You see, she had a bit of an injury before the Games, so she couldn’t train as much as she wanted to. But hey, she’s already looking ahead to the next one, hoping to be better prepared and play even better. And you know what? I have no doubt she’s gonna rock it! Khanthasit is a true inspiration, showing us all that age is just a number and that passion and determination can take you to incredible heights. So, let’s cheer her on as she gears up for her fifth Asian Para Games and beyond!
