No Care Home on Old Walsall Football Ground? That’s a Red Card!

So, get this: there was this plan to build a care home on the old Walsall football ground, right? But guess what? It got rejected! Can you believe it? LNT Care Developments Ltd had this idea to turn the old Pelsall Villa FC ground in Pelsall, Walsall into a 66-bed care home. They thought it would be a great way to provide jobs and meet a community need. But nope, the planning committee at Walsall Council said, ‘Nah, not happening.’ They had a bunch of reasons, like saying it would mess with road safety and there was no plan to make up for the loss of a sports pitch. Bummer, right?

The developers were really pushing for this care home. They said it would be an important local support service and offer top-notch accommodation. Plus, they promised that most of the jobs would go to people from the area. But the council wasn’t buying it. This isn’t the first time they’ve said no to a care home on that site. They also turned down a previous application to build a care home and an Aldi Store. Tough luck!

Well, that’s the latest news from Walsall. Looks like the old football ground won’t be getting a makeover after all. It’s a shame, really. But hey, maybe something even better will come along. You never know!
