Hey basketball fans in San Antonio, get ready for an epic event! San Antonio Sports has just announced the first-ever San Antonio Sports High School All-Star Basketball Game, and it’s going to be broadcast exclusively on KSAT12. This historic event will showcase the top basketball players in the Alamo City and is set to take place on March 24 at the Northside ISD Sports Gymnasium.
The game day will feature a total of four games, with each session including a girls’ and boys’ game. This is a groundbreaking event for female student-athletes in San Antonio, as it’s the first high school all-star game of its kind for them. And that’s not all! Between the afternoon and evening sessions, there will be an exciting all-star skills challenge and three-point contest.
If you’re eager to catch all the action, tickets will go on sale in late January. And even if you can’t make it to the gymnasium, don’t worry! You can still watch every game live on KSAT-2, KSAT.com, and KSAT+. So, mark your calendars and get ready to cheer on the best high school basketball players in San Antonio.
The teams for the games have already been announced, and they are stacked with talented coaches. Team Black includes Rudy Bernal from Antonian and David Farber from La Vernia for the 1A-4A schools and private schools division. For the 5A/6A schools division, John Hirst from Reagan and Rihana Morgan from Clark will be coaching. On the other hand, Team Gold will be led by Bruce Bowen from TMI and Amy Ruede from Boerne for the 1A-4A schools and private schools division. For the 5A/6A schools division, Dakota Cowgill from Brennan and Christina Camacho from Judson will be coaching.
The selection process for the teams is rigorous. High school coaches have the opportunity to nominate up to two players for the game, as well as one player each for the skills challenge and three-point contest. A selection committee, consisting of sports media, scouts, and former coaches, will then choose the final teams in mid-January.
San Antonio is a city known for its love of basketball, and this event is a testament to that. Since 2015, the city has been hosting the UIL State Basketball Tournaments, and now the San Antonio Sports High School All-Star Basketball Game will bring together the best players in the area for one final game. It’s an incredible opportunity for these talented athletes to be recognized and celebrated.
So, basketball fans, get ready for an unforgettable day of high school basketball action. Whether you’re in the stands or watching from the comfort of your own home, make sure to tune in to KSAT12 on March 24 and support these amazing young athletes. It’s going to be a game you won’t want to miss!
