Hey folks! Big news from the golf world! Anirban Lahiri and Bryson DeChambeau teamed up to lead the Crushers to a fantastic 2-shot victory over the RangeGoats in the LIV Golf team championship. The tournament took place at Trump Doral, and let me tell you, it was quite a show!
Lahiri was on fire, shooting an impressive 7-under 65. But it was DeChambeau who stole the spotlight with his incredible performance on the back nine of the Blue Monster. He made only one par and shot a solid 67. Talk about theatrics!
The Crushers were in control for most of the back nine and had a comfortable 4-shot lead as they approached the 18th hole. Charles Howell III contributed with a 72, and Paul Casey held his own with a 73.
On the other side, the RangeGoats put up a good fight. Bubba Watson finished strong with a birdie on the 18th, carding a 67. Talor Gooch and Thomas Pieters each shot a respectable 70, while Harold Varner III posted a 72. However, Gooch’s tee shot on the 18th ended up in the water, costing the RangeGoats valuable strokes and securing the Crushers’ victory.
But let’s talk about DeChambeau’s remarkable birdie on the 16th. The hole was within reach, and he took full advantage of it. His tee shot landed long and left near the second green. With a high wedge shot over a concession area, he managed to get the ball to about 18 feet from the hole. And guess what? He sunk the putt like a pro! Talk about skill!
Lahiri deserves a special mention for his bogey-free round, which was the best among all the teams competing for the title. He was pumped up and determined not to let his team down. And boy, did he deliver!
Unfortunately, the defending champions, the 4 Aces, didn’t have a chance this time. Dustin Johnson struggled, closing with a 75. The only player who managed to break 70 was Peter Uihlein with a solid 69. As a result, the 4 Aces finished last among the four teams. Tough luck!
In the end, the Crushers walked away with a whopping $14 million from the $50 million purse. That’s a nice payday! The team will take home 60% of the winnings, while the players will divide the rest, pocketing $1.4 million each. Not too shabby!
As for the other eight teams, they battled it out in separate tiers to determine their final rankings. It was a fierce competition, but in the end, Torque secured the third spot.
So there you have it, folks! DeChambeau’s squad emerged victorious in the LIV Golf team championship, putting on a show that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Congratulations to the Crushers on their well-deserved win!
