Awesome Architect to Create Museum Around Historic St. Stephen Basketball Court

Hey folks, check out this amazing news! There’s a super cool architect who’s gonna turn the historic St. Stephen basketball court into a museum. How awesome is that? This court is like, 130 years old, and it’s gonna be part of the Canadian National Basketball Experience Museum. The architect in charge is called CambridgeSeven, and they’re famous for designing sports heritage museums. They just finished restoring the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, which tells the story of how basketball was invented by a Canadian dude named James Naismith. So you know they’re gonna do an awesome job with this court too. The court was actually found in a building that used to be a YMCA back in the late 19th century. It’s been through a lot, but now it’s finally getting the attention it deserves. The CambridgeSeven team even had a workshop at the court to come up with the design. They’re gonna renovate the original building and add some cool stuff to it. The museum is gonna have all kinds of memorabilia and interactive exhibits for everyone to enjoy. They’re gonna use some fancy technology to make it super fun and engaging. And get this, they’re gonna have a rotating selection of borrowed memorabilia from famous basketball players. How cool is that? You’ll get to see stuff that’s not even on display at the Canada Sports Hall of Fame. The goal is to make this museum a hub for basketball tournaments and attract lots of tourists to the province. Former NBA players and members of Basketball Canada have already checked out the court, so you know it’s gonna be awesome. The World’s Oldest Basketball Court Inc. has been raising funds for a few years to make this happen. They even bought the building that houses the court. The funding for the project is gonna come from the provincial and federal governments, as well as charitable donations. They haven’t confirmed the total cost yet, but back in 2022, they projected it to be around $10 million. The timeline for the project depends on when they get the funding, but it usually takes about 8 to 12 months for the design process and 18 months for construction. Tyler Slipp, the executive director of Basketball New Brunswick, thinks this project is gonna be a game-changer. He hopes they can partner with the museum to host awesome events that bring basketball lovers from all over the province to St. Stephen. This is gonna put basketball in this province on the map, and that’s something to get excited about. So get ready, folks, ’cause this museum is gonna be epic!
