Hey folks! Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA have teamed up to spread some positive vibes at the Scottish Gas Football Camps. How cool is that? Scottish Gas has generously funded 33 camps all over Scotland during the October half-term, giving a whopping 800 children the chance to participate. Talk about spreading the love for football! And guess what? A recent survey by OnePoll revealed that 9 out of 10 adults in Scotland believe that sports are an awesome way for kids to develop important skills like communication, teamwork, and respect. That’s a big thumbs up from the grown-ups! In fact, a whopping 82% of parents think that coaches play a vital role in their child’s development. So, it’s no wonder that Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA are teaming up to make a positive impact on these young players. The survey also showed that 9 out of 10 Scots believe that having a positive outlook is key to success in life. And get this, 85% of them believe that exercising and playing sports actually improves their mood. Talk about a natural high! It’s not just the adults who think positivity is important. A staggering 92% of people said that it’s crucial to be positive in front of young children to set a good example. And you know what? They’re absolutely right! Charlie Mulgrew, the former Scotland Men’s Team Captain, knows firsthand how football can bring happiness and teach valuable life skills. He said, ‘Football has brought me a lot of happiness from an early age and taught me some really valuable life skills beyond the pitch.’ How awesome is that? Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA are working with coaches who can have a huge influence on a child’s development. They want to encourage and reward kids for showing positive traits at the football camps. And let me tell you, these young players are in for a treat! Those who display positive energy traits like respect, fair play, teamwork, and positive communication will be rewarded with some amazing prizes, including tickets to Scottish Gas Scottish Cup fixtures in the 2023/24 season. Talk about scoring big! Fulton MacGregor MSP, the Chair of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on the Future of Football, is all for this initiative. He said, ‘The initiative launched by Scottish Gas and the Scottish FA to reward our young players who exhibit respect, fair play, teamwork, and positive communication is an excellent way to teach our future generations all the tenets of a positive attitude both on and off the field.’ We couldn’t agree more, Fulton! Scottish Gas is committed to powering communities in Scotland through their partnership with the Scottish FA. They want children to show off four positive energy traits at the football camps this October half-term: respect, fair play, teamwork, and positive communication. Let’s spread the positive vibes, folks!
