Auburn wheelchair basketball had an amazing season last year, but they’re not satisfied. They’re aiming for the top in the upcoming 2023-24 season. Head coach Robb Taylor and his team are determined to bring home the championship trophy. They may have finished fourth last year, but this year, they want it all.
The season kicks off on November 2, and their first game is against their biggest rival, the Alabama Crimson Tide. It’s going to be a showdown between two powerhouse teams. Coach Taylor knows that starting the season against the top team from last year is a great way to see where they stand.
Auburn’s roster is a mix of talented freshmen and experienced veterans. The freshmen bring new skills and energy to the team. Ben Edwards, the tallest player in Auburn’s history, will dominate the inside game. Jude Hiley, a left-handed shooter, will stretch the floor with his three-point shots. The team is also excited about their quick freshmen who will push the tempo and bring a strong defensive presence.
The Tigers have a challenging schedule ahead of them. They’ll be playing in three home tournaments and two tournaments in Tuscaloosa. They’ll also be traveling to Missouri and Edinboro University for more exciting matchups. Coach Taylor sees these tournaments as opportunities to test their skills and develop their game.
Auburn is determined to bring more fans to their games. With a skilled team and the goal of winning the National Championship, they want the Beard-Eaves Coliseum to be packed with cheering fans. They have a special game against a team from Tampa associated with the Wounded Warrior Ranch. It’s a game you don’t want to miss, especially with Paul Schulte, a three-time U.S. Paralympian and wheelchair basketball standout, on the opposing team.
The Tigers’ ultimate goal is to win the National Championship Tournament in Marshall, Minnesota. They know it won’t be easy, but they’re ready to put in the hard work and dedication. Coach Taylor believes in his team’s ability to peak at the right time and bring home the trophy.
So mark your calendars and get ready for an exciting season of Auburn wheelchair basketball. It’s going to be a journey filled with passion, determination, and unforgettable moments. Let’s cheer on the Tigers as they chase their dreams and shoot hoops!
