Cleanup Operation: Municipal Police Remove Abandoned Vehicles from Streets

Auto and motorcycles abandoned, municipal police in action: 19 of them have been removed. The operation took place in the territory of the 2nd Municipality. As part of the territory control activities, the officers of the Local Police (Operational Unit Avvocata), together with the personnel of the Abandoned Vehicles Unit, carried out an important intervention to ‘clean up’ the territory of Municipality 2, Avvocata, Montecalvario, Pendino. They proceeded to remove 19 vehicles, including 2 cars and 17 motorcycles, which were clearly abandoned. The operations involved several streets such as via Bartolomeo Caracciolo, via Girolamo Santacroce, via Poggio dei Mari, via de Pretis, via Melisurgo, via Saverio Baldacchini, vico Paparelle a pendino, Piazza Santa Maria la Scala, Piazza del Carmine, and via Marina. The vehicles, which had become a receptacle for waste, were partly identified by the officers during the regular territory control services and partly reported by citizens to the dedicated institutional email: [email protected]. At the same time as the removal of the abandoned vehicles, activities were carried out to combat illegal parking and the illegal dumping of waste. Outside of Municipality 2, a further twenty-two vehicles were fined, five of which were removed by tow truck, and five individuals were fined for being caught dumping non-hazardous waste on public roads. The planned activities will continue in the coming weeks in all city neighborhoods.
