Storm Ciaran: Vinci Warns of Risks on Highways

Vinci Autoroutes has many sections affected by Storm Ciaran. That’s why the company has issued a statement about it. They are urging caution on the sections of the departments under orange or red alert and providing details on what to expect for drivers.

Storm Ciaran is gradually hitting France. As the All Saints’ Day holidays come to an end, many highway sections are likely to be disrupted. Driving could be dangerous for various reasons.

Vinci Autoroutes has specifically released information on this matter. The company has numerous sections that could be more or less severely affected by this storm. These sections are located in the departments under orange or red alert.

The Vinci highway sections that could be affected by Storm Ciaran are as follows:

Maine-et-Loire (49), Mayenne (53), and Sarthe (72): wind alert (A87, A87 Nord, A11, A85, A81, A28)

Vendée (85) and Loire-Atlantique (44): wind and submersion wave alert (A87, A83, A11)

Highly regulated traffic for heavy vehicles
This call for caution is accompanied by stricter regulations for heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, motorhomes, etc.). They are required to reduce their speed by 20 km/h. They are also not allowed to overtake in Pays-de-la-Loire, Normandy, and Centre-Val-de-Loire.

On the VINCI Autoroutes network, these restrictions apply to all departments in Pays-de-la-Loire, as well as Eure-et-Loir and Orne, since 10 PM yesterday. The circulation of heavy vehicles was also prohibited until 8 AM on Thursday, November 2. Let’s hope the situation improves.
