Byron Shire Council has hit a winner, coming in first place in the Supporting Tennis – Government category at the Tennis NSW Awards. The council was recognized for its exceptional support and engagement with the local tennis community. They worked hard to refresh and renovate five tennis courts in Billinudgel, Suffolk Park, Ocean Shores, Mullumbimby, and Bangalow after they were damaged by floods in 2022. Malcolm Robertson, the Manager of Open Spaces and Facilities at Byron Shire Council, expressed his pride in the team’s efforts to revitalize the courts. He also thanked the local tennis clubs, Tennis NSW, and the NSW Government for their collaboration and funding. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in providing top-notch facilities for local tennis players and clubs.
